Service to her community is an important aspect to the life of Theresa Filliben. Theresa serves as VP & Director of the Vail Education Foundation.  This organization provides financial support for Vail School District - students and teachers working together on special projects. These projects are outside the scope of available federal and state funding programs.  The sponsor teacher and the student submit a budget along with the goals/objectives for the project.  These are reviewed by the Foundation, and if the criteria is met, they are awarded the monetary support.  She .is a past member of the Cienega Rotary, serving as their director of public relations.  The organization won athe public relations award for their district during her tenure. 

Theresa and her husband Lane raised 5 children.  Most of them have graduated college and are living away from home.  San Francisco, CA is home to two of their sons, and her daughter, son-in-law & three grandsons are living in Hidden Valley, CA.  Another son & daughter-in-law live in San Jose.  There is one son still living at home, Tovi.  Three years ago, at the age of fourteen, he passed an entrance exam at the local community college to study American Sign Language .  Now a senior in high school, he has completed all of the high school and college requirements in this language and is aiming for a degree in engineering.

With no children in college at present and Theresa’s full support, Lane decided he’d go back to school.  Leaving college   thirty-three years ago to raise his family, Lane made a committment to finish what he’d started.  Currently a senior at the University of Arizona, he is a full-time student in the Fine Arts program.  He has an art gallery and studio "The 5th on 6th" in downton Tucson. This May Lane will graduate from college & Tovi will graduate from high school and life should settle down just a little bit.
